Founder Feedback Event - Praetura Ventures and FHundED

What to expect?

-Each event will include a short introduction from Praetura on “What VCs Won’t Tell You” and offer insight into the funding process.

We will show which investors are active in the space and where you can find them.

-We will then be split out into smaller groups with an investor, later stage founder and an adviser included in each for the chance to get more direct feedback on your pitches. Each founder will be given a short pitch and the group will discuss and offer feedback.

-We will then reform as one group and discuss key learnings and best practice. We will also be interviewing a later stage founder to get their experience to share their journey to date.

-Finally we will finish up with some drinks and networking with founders, investors and advisers.

-Afterwards, every attendee will be sent a set of exclusive resources produced by Praetura on pitching and the investment landscape.

Why?

Raising money is hard and too often founders aren’t given the right tools or told the right facts. We want to create a safe space where we can give real feedback and help share the best tips so more founders can get the funding they need in the future. No sponsors, no set agendas, just an afternoon of honest advice and support.

If there are any areas you would like covered on the day or questions you want answered, please email ben.davies@praetura.co.uk or laura.hough@praetura.co.uk to ensure we factor these in to the days plans. Thanks and we look forward to seeing you.

Lancashire Innovation Festival 2023

Our fourth year of running the successful Lancashire Innovation Festival, supported by the British Business Bank.

We are looking to show how Lancashire businesses engage with innovation and how they implement it.

This year we have two themes to the day – eco and energy, followed by money – how to fund your innovation.

Starting at 9.30am with an address from Professor Graham Baldwin – Chairman of the Lancashire Innovation Board, outlining what has happened over the last year and what is to come.

Followed by 4 sessions on eco innovation and energy – more details to follow once we have confirmed names.

Break for lunch and the opportunity to take tours around AMRC and see the various innovative things they are working on.

After lunch at 1.30pm we have an introduction to the session by the British Business Bank's Delyth Edwards who will outline what they can support you with and how they work with Lancashire based businesses.

We then have other sessions hosted by Innovate UK and the Lancashire Funding Hub who will chat about other means of funding innovation and introduce businesses who have got funding through them.

Throughout the day, we will have other support organisations available as well as the opportunity at the end of each session to catch up with the speakers and exchange contact details or simply ask questions.

Secure Digitalisation

Cyber Works believes that cyber security is more than just a necessary safety feature and a drag on the bottom line; it is a driver for innovation and growth.

This is why we have developed our online Secure digitalisation programme to support businesses.

Secure Digitalisation

You do not have to be technical in nature to learn how to protect your technology and we support small to medium enterprises (SMEs) from all sectors to engage more with cyber security

The Secure Digitalisation programme aims to cover three simple concepts: Defend. Innovate. Grow.

We encourage a secure by design philosophy, and companies that are involved with the secure digitalisation programme learn how to weave cyber security practices into their organisations to help them defend, innovate and grow their business.

We are changing the narrative around Cyber Security by asking “How can we embed these core concepts into your business model and strategy?”

£500+VAT full day programme with lunch & refreshments here at Lancaster University.

Register expression of interest via Eventbrite and once place confirmed invoice will be generated

10:30 - 11:30

Networking for Success with Tarnia Elsworth

11:30 - 12:00

Social

Networking events can be a great way to expand your professional network and meet new people in your industry. However, for women working in tech and digital roles, these events can sometimes be daunting or even frustrating. Women can often be overlooked or underestimated at these events, making it difficult to make meaningful connections and advance their careers. That's why at our upcoming event we’re inviting women in tech and digital roles to come and hone their networking skills and will be providing a supportive and empowering environment to learn and network.

We hope you will join us for the third event in our series, where we will be joined by Tarnia Elsworth, Director and Financial Adviser at TP Financial Solutions, for a one-hour workshop on networking for success.

Since setting up her business in 2019, Tarnia has become a seasoned networker, building a successful network of her own and honing her networking skills along the way. In this workshop, she will share her insights and strategies for effective networking, even for those who might find it daunting or unproductive.

You'll learn about the benefits of networking, how to make meaningful connections, and how to leverage those connections to achieve your personal and professional goals. Tarnia will also share some practical tips for overcoming common networking challenges and making the most of your networking opportunities.

After the workshop, we'll move on to a half-hour social where you can chat with Tarnia and other attendees and continue the conversation over light refreshments. This is a great opportunity to put your newly acquired networking skills into practice, connect with like-minded individuals, and expand your network in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Whether you're new to networking or simply looking to improve your skills, this event is not to be missed. So join us, reserve your spot, and get ready to learn from a networking pro and connect with a community of tech professionals.

Presently, you do not need to be a member to attend these events but we would encourage you to do so moving forward so that you do not miss out on notifications for future events and updates in the NWCSC newsletter such as funding opportunities.
